| The adoption of a 14 month old, 125 pound, long-hair Akita, appropriately named Wookie, changed our lives to an unbelievable degree. With all the adjustments in our lives one thing needed to be addressed quickly. It seemed that Wookie came with a habit. He wanted his daily allotment of "cookies". You know the kind we mean, they're in almost any store that sells pet supplies. This in itself wasn't much of a problem. The problem came up when the label on the box was examined. It reads like a chemistry book, not like a nice list of ingredients we could feel good about. So what could we do? The solution seemed obvious. We would make our own! So with a very willing taste tester and a very keen interest in cooking, we were off and running. | ||
| What fun we had trying different recipes and ingredients! The old trial and error method (special note on the error part) finally got us to a basic garlic flavored cookie. Shortly followed by a couple of flavor variations. We were on a roll! Wookie had his cookies and we had a little peace of mind feeding them to him. At this point we decided to share our treats with our dog owning friends. We made up a special set of Christmas cookies and passed them around. The response was astounding! Everybody reported that their furry friends really loved the cookies. "You really need to be selling these things" was the overwhelming comment. | ||
| We started with a long conversation with Wookie's vet. He could find nothing wrong with the ingredients and provided a pretty comprehensive list of ingredient no-nos. Since then we've been learning as much about animal nutrition as we can get our hands on. We are now trying to get the word out there that we have as nutritious line of treats that are as fun to give as they are to eat. As a LAUGHING DOG BAKERY customer you can be confident that your cherished companion is getting the very best. Always know that we use the best quality ingredients that can be found. All our treats are handcrafted. The shapes and the product names are for human consumption only, the rest is for our canine buddies. ALEXANDER’S GRAHAM BELLS - Made with graham flour, graham crackers and honey. BANANA BUNNIES - These bunny shaped cookies are made with banana, carob and honey. BEARIES - These bears come in several flavors, bluebearies, blackbearies, strawbearies and raspbearies. BEGGS – Bacon and egg cookies shaped, of course, like eggs. BOWSER BRUSCHETTA – Tomato, parmesan cheese, basil and garlic make these ribbons an all time favorite. BUTTERMILK BONES - These are made with cultured buttered,powdered buttermilk and honey. CARROTS – Carrot shaped cookies are made with minced fresh carrots, dried carrots with a hint of nutmeg. CHERRY-OHS - These are rolled oats and cinnamon Os. CHICK-COINS – These are made with chicken and chicken broth flavored with garlic. CORN PONIES - Made with cracked corn and honey cut in the shape of a rocking horse. COUNTRY BUMPKINS – Pumpkin shaped made with pumpkin and a touch of nutmeg. COWBOY STARS (CBs) - These star shaped cookies (named after a rescued boxer in New Mexico) are made with roasted peanuts and molasses. DROOL HOUSE COOKIES – These cookies look just like the traditional Toll House Cookies we all love but are canine friendly made with carob chips and vanilla. GRRRLICK BONES - Bone shaped cookies made with minced garlic and molasses. KORN DOGGIES - Made with corn, cornflakes and honey. Le CHATS - These kitty cats are made with parmesan cheese and garlic. LIVER LUV ‘EMS – These heart shaped goodies come in two flavors, beef liver and chicken liver. PEAS PLEASE – Made with peas and garlic. Qs MEs - These are cookies made with a homemade barbeque sauce. RED BEGGS – These are meatless. Made with lots of egg these help keep that coat nice and shiny. RICE DREAM CONES – Cone shaped cookies made with rice flour and cooked rice. SORRY CHARLIES – Tuna and garlic are featured in these fish shaped cookies. SORRY CHARLIE MELTS – Tuna, garlic and cheddar cheese make up these fish. SPIN DIZZIES – Jelly roll cookies made with vanilla and cinnamon filled with a date filling. STEAK HOUSES – Houses made with beef shank steak and a touch of garlic. TORNADOS – These cookie swirls are made with cinnamon and apricots. WOOKIE COOKIES - Our flagship cookie, named after our wonderful Akita, “Wookie”. These puppy shaped cookies are made with carob powder, ground almonds and vanilla. YAPPLES - Apple shaped cookies made with applesauce and cinnamon.
Although all our items can be sold separately, we mostly think in terms of “BARKER’S DOZENS” . (13 items per Barker’s Dozen) “COOKIE OF THE MONTH CLUB”
Experience the convenience of receiving a "Cookie Box" at your door each month containing that month's "theme cookies". (Dec.=Christmas, Feb.=Valentine's, Oct.=Halloween,Apr.=Easter, Mar.=St.Patrick's,etc.) Each month's box contains 3 barker's dozen. Partial year plans available. All cookies are cut with 3 inch cutters (approximate) And don’t think we’ve forgotten about the slightly diminutive of our canine pals…INTRODUCING LITTLES ! We offer all the listed treats as “LITTLES”. They are cut with 1 inch cutters. Remember . . .they’re NOT SMALL they’re ‘LITTLES’! Littles are great as training treats!
